I love Girls on the Run DC because…

  • ‘the girls’  became ‘my girls’!
  • it made me go out and run!
  • The girls were so much fun to get to know.
  • It encourages healthy living.
  • I got to meet awesome girls who inspired me in ways I couldn’t have imagined.
  • It provides a meaningful afternoon activity for the girls and coaches.
  • It gave me the opportunity to work with a great group of girls.
  • I met some of the most amazing, talented, and dedicated girls who bring the largest smile to my face at every practice.
  • It is a great opportunity for young girls to build self-esteem.
  • It is teaching me more than I teach them (but don’t tell the girls that!)
  • It allows me the opportunity to connect with my students in a different, more personal way.
  • It gave me the opportunity to interact with awesome girls that I wouldn’t have known otherwise.
  • It empowers young girls to love themselves AND running!
  • Everything about it is affirming and positive!
  • It is so well organized.
  • One girl was having a rough day and her friend told her “just plug in your positive cord. You’ll feel better.”
  • I forgot how powerful it is to be a girl, and now I remember!
  • It is the most positive part of my work place!

I am making an impact by…

  • Reminding “young ladies” that gender is a picture in your mind.
  • I am dedicated to my GIRLS on the RUN!
  • Encouraging girls to go beyond what they think they can do.
  • Once girl told me she learned how to stand up to a bully from GOTR.
  • Being another person the girls can come to. And they do.
  • Teaching girls that it’s important to be healthy and active.
  • Providing a positive outlet for inner city girls.
  • Empowering girls to LOVE themselves!
  • Helping students see new options for a healthy lifestyle.
  • Sharing my love of running and staying healthy!
  • Helping young ladies discover their greatness!
